Amaechi, Wiltrout Set School Records At Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two school-record performances and three event wins highlighted Friday's action as the North Carolina track and field teams competed at the Tom Jones Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida at the Gators' Percy Beard Track.
In women's discus, Obiageri Amaechi broke the long-standing school record with a throw of 186-6 (56.85). Laura Gerraughty's 181-11 (55.44) had held up as the program's best since 2006.
In the women's javelin, UNC's Madison Wiltrout reset her own school record with a PR of 187-4 (57.11), the best in the NCAA this season.
Anna Keefer PR-ed in both of her events. She won the long jump with a distance of 21-0 (6.40m), which ranks sixth in school history. Then she placed seventh in a stacked 200-meters field with a time of 23.19, third in school history.
On the men's side, Ben Finger placed third in the pole vault with a height of 5.07m (16-7.5), earning him a spot on the school's top-10 list with the 10th-best vault in program history. Matthew Harris turned in a PR time of 51.21 to win his heat in the 400-meter hurdles and finish 12th overall.
