CHAPEL HILL—No. 1-ranked North Carolina went on a 16-0 run and dominated fifth-ranked Duke, 18-4, on Thursday night at Dorrance Field to clinch the outright Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title and the top seed in next week's ACC Tournament.
Carolina has won 10 ACC regular season championships, including seven outright (1998, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022).
UNC moved to 15-0 this season overall and 8-0 in the ACC, completing its second consecutive undefeated ACC regular season. Duke, coming off a win over No. 2 Boston College last weekend, fell to 15-2, 6-2.

The Carolina defense held Duke scoreless for a span of 41:38 (from 10:16 in the first quarter until 3:38 in the fourth quarter) during its 16-0 run that turned a 2-2 tie into an 18-2 lead.
