Ostberg Wins 5K To Lead The Way At Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Tar Heel distance runners made plenty of revisions to the school record book on Friday and Saturday as members of the UNC track and field teams competed at the Virginia Challenge.
On Friday, Alex Ostberg won the men's 5,000 meters in a time of 13:35.67, the third-fastest time in program history. Three other Tar Heels also turned in top-10 times: Patrick Anderson was seventh in the race and fourth in school history in 13:37.79. Jack Aho finished in 13:39.59, fifth in school history, and John Tatter crossed in 13:40.59, seventh in program history.
Also on Friday, Brynn Brown turned in a PR in the 1500 meters, with a time of 4:17.20, seventh in program history.
Saturday, Michael Spragley ran a PR of 1:50.18 to place sixth in the 800 meters.
