CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina volleyball team (12-14, 6-11 ACC) suffered a five-set loss to No. 25 Florida State (22-8, 15-2 ACC) on Sunday afternoon in Carmichael Arena. After UNC dominated the first two sets of the match, the Seminoles rallied to take the next three sets and the victory.

Mabrey Shaffmaster put on an offensive clinic, leading the match with 24 kills on a .317 hitting percentage and 13 digs, her fifth double-double of the season and fourth in ACC play.

Freshman Sydney Nolan and Safi Hampton each stepped up big with career performances. Nolan hit .577 with a career-best 16 kills, while Hampton led the match with a career-best 17 digs and 12 kills, her second career double-double. Hampton also had two of Carolina's three aces in the match.

Setters Zoe Behrendt and Anita Babic combined for 58 of the Tar Heels' 63 assists, with Babic contributing 10 digs for her third double-double of the season.

The Tar Heels were dominated at the net by the Seminoles, with Florida State tallying 19 blocks to seven from Carolina. However, the Tar Heels won the other defensive battle, tallying a season-best 76 digs in the match.

Carolina will wrap up the season on Friday with a home match against Duke at 1 p.m. in Carmichael Arena.
