Aluka-White Named To ABIS Watch List

North Carolina women's basketball assistant coach Joanne Aluka-White has been named to the ABIS Black Coaches Watch List for assistant/associate coaches, announced this week by the Advancement of Blacks in Sports (ABIS).
The list includes top men's and women's coaches from across the country and this year highlighted 26 head coaches and 40 assistant coaches. Aluka-White is one of 20 women's basketball assistants honored.
Aluka-White is in her fourth season on the UNC staff. In Chapel Hill, she's been part of two NCAA Tournament trips with another set to be announced on Sunday. This season's Tar Heel squad (21-10) has been ranked in the AP top 25 all season, climbing as high as No. 6. Carolina has earned six wins over other teams ranked in the poll and has played the nation's 12-toughest schedule.
Prior to coming to Chapel Hill, Aluka-White spent seven seasons at Charlotte, serving two years as associate head coach. She started her career at Florida International with six seasons as an assistant coach.
Advancement of Blacks In Sports (ABIS) is a non-profit organization with a mission to advocate for a culture of equity and inclusion for Blacks in sports. The ABIS Black Coaches Watchlist is shared annually with athletic administrators and executive search firms. Those nominated are considered to be the year's most deserving, qualified, and prepared Black coaches in the NCAA to elevate their careers to the next level.
