Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Boston College In ACC Title Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Third-seed University of North Carolina women's lacrosse dropped an 11-9 decision to top-seed Boston College in the finals of the 2023 ACC Championships presented by Ally on Sunday afternoon at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Caroline Godine, Emily Nalls and Brooklyn Walker-Welch were named to the ACC All-Tournament Team.

How It Happened
- Alyssa Long tallied the first two for UNC before goals from Olivia Dirks and Nicole Humphrey less than a minute apart put the Tar Heels up 4-1.
- A goal from Melissa Sconone with 11 seconds on the clock gave Carolina a 5-2 lead at the end of the opening frame.
- Dirks and Sconone both notched their second of the day in what proved to be a back-and-forth second quarter.
- Goalkeeper Alecia Nicholas made five first-half saves, including four in the second quarter, as Carolina held a 7-4 lead heading into the break.
- Boston College fired off two quick ones to open the second half before UNC quickly responded with a pair of its own.
- The Eagles got themselves within one, but the Tar Heels maintained a narrow 9-8 leading after 45 minutes of play.
- BC had three unanswered in the fourth quarter to hold on for the win.

- Nalls also had a game-high three caused turnovers.
