White Scores Six As No. 5 Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down Pitt, 16-3

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Marissa White scored a career-high six goals to lead the No. 5 University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team to a 16-3 win over Pitt on a rainy Friday afternoon at Finley North Field.
Following the win, the Tar Heels improve to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play while the Panthers drop to 4-10 (0-7).

How It Happened
- White got scoring started before Reilly Casey notched three in a row as UNC went up 6-0 after the first 15 minutes of play.
- Two more from White brought her total up to four in the first half, leading the Tar Heels to an 11-goal advantage.
- Carolina's defense held Pitt scoreless during the first 30 minutes, its second opening-half shutout of the year.
- Pitt scored twice to start the second half before White got her fifth with 4:28 left in the third.
- Casey made it four on the day as UNC held a 14-2 edge heading into the last quarter.
- White's sixth came just under two minutes into the final quarter before Darcy Felter added one six minutes later to seal the 16-3 win.
- Nine of UNC's 16 goals had an assist, in which Caitlyn Wurzburger had a season-high five.

- Led by Kaleigh Harden and Bailey Horne with three each, UNC had 13 draw controls to Pitt's eight.

- Today's victory marked UNC's 41st consecutive win at home.
- It was UNC's second first-half shutout of the season, also doing so against Florida on Feb. 18.
- UNC has scored double-figure goals 68 times in its last 71 games.
- Carolina has gone 75-7 in its last 82 games against ACC opponents.
