TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Carolina volleyball team (7-5, 1-2 ACC) fell in a tight, three-set battle to Florida State on Friday night in Tully Gym.
Junior outside hitter Mabrey Shaffmaster led the Tar Heel offense with her eighth-straight double-digit performance, recording a match-best 15 kills on a .306 hitting percentage, four aces and four digs.
Sophomore middle blocker Sadie Swift contributed a team-best four block assists, while sophomore setter Anita Babic ran the offense with 29 assists.
Florida State hit .370 in the match, the highest hitting percentage by any Carolina opponent this season, while the Tar Heels hit .197. Carolina is now 0-5 when dropping the first set of a match and is 1-5 when hitting below .200.
The Tar Heels will cap off their trip to the Sunshine State on Sunday, traveling to Miami for a 1 p.m. match with the Hurricanes.
