Carolina Finishes A Strong Day One At The 2024 ACC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – After the first day of competition at the 2024 ACC Indoor Championships, members of the University of North Carolina men's and women's indoor track and field teams saw multiple top-10 finishes and personal bests. The Tar Heels began the day with preliminary races and field events along with final competitions mixed in between.

Thursday - Day One
Pentathlon (Final) - Danni Stoughton
- After a day of competition, Stoughton tallied 3,381 points while finishing eleventh.
- Through four events, Sam Corley enters Friday in third place (3,178 points), Stakun-Pickering is in sixth place (3,124 points) , Young is in tenth place (2,824 points) and Kazmaier is in twelfth (2,767 points). The leader, Edgar Campre of Miami, tallied 3277 points on day one.
- Radhuber set a new personal best after throwing 17.30 meters while finishing 16th.
- Paul Signorelli led the Tar Heels with a fifth place finish and a height of 5.07 meters while teammate Ben Finger finished in seventh place.Â
- Colton Sand won the Men's unseeded 5000 meter race with a time of 13:59.77. His time was good for tenth place overall while Hayes finished in 21st place.
- Reece Morgan set a new personal best with a time of 21.32 and a tenth place finish.
- Sydney banks finished in a tie for sixth place with a height of 1.72 meters.
- Finished with a distance of 16.80 meters and placed 19th.
- Alex Phillip led North Carolina with a second place time of 13:51.50, while Jake Gebhardt finished fourth with a personal best time of 13:51.99.
- Fatima Alanis crossed the finish line in sixth place (16:13.26) and fellow Tar Heel Ava Dobson finished in 13th place with a time of 16:28.39.
- The quartet of Neal, Reinheimer, Paschall and Sapone placed second with a time of 9:34.74.
