Carolina Finishes A Strong Day One At The 2024 ACC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – After the first day of competition at the 2024 ACC Indoor Championships, members of the University of North Carolina men's and women's indoor track and field teams saw multiple top-10 finishes and personal bests. The Tar Heels began the day with preliminary races and field events along with final competitions mixed in between.

Below is a breakdown of events and the athlete(s) competing in the event.

Thursday - Day One

Pentathlon (Final) - Danni Stoughton

After a day of competition, Stoughton tallied 3,381 points while finishing eleventh.

Heptathlon (4 of 7 events completed) - Sam Corley, Bryce Kazmaier, Max Stakun-Pickering, Issac Young

Through four events, Sam Corley enters Friday in third place (3,178 points), Stakun-Pickering is in sixth place (3,124 points) , Young is in tenth place (2,824 points) and Kazmaier is in twelfth (2,767 points). The leader, Edgar Campre of Miami, tallied 3277 points on day one.

Men's Weight Throw - Brayden Radhuber

Radhuber set a new personal best after throwing 17.30 meters while finishing 16th.

Men's Pole Vault - Ben Finger, Paul Signorelli

Paul Signorelli led the Tar Heels with a fifth place finish and a height of 5.07 meters while teammate Ben Finger finished in seventh place.

Men's 5000m (Unseeded) - Gitch Hayes, Colton Sand

Colton Sand won the Men's unseeded 5000 meter race with a time of 13:59.77. His time was good for tenth place overall while Hayes finished in 21st place.

Men's 200m (Prelims) - Reece Morgan

Reece Morgan set a new personal best with a time of 21.32 and a tenth place finish.

Women's High Jump - Sydney Banks

Sydney banks finished in a tie for sixth place with a height of 1.72 meters.

Women's Weight Throw - Eli Vasen

Finished with a distance of 16.80 meters and placed 19th.

Men's 5000m (Seeded) (Final) - Alex Phillip, Jake Gebhardt

Alex Phillip led North Carolina with a second place time of 13:51.50, while Jake Gebhardt finished fourth with a personal best time of 13:51.99.

Women's 5000m (Seeded) (Final) - Ava Dobson, Fatima Alanis

Fatima Alanis crossed the finish line in sixth place (16:13.26) and fellow Tar Heel Ava Dobson finished in 13th place with a time of 16:28.39.

Men's Distance Medley Relay (Final) - Aiden Neal, Kyle Reinheimer, Trevor Paschall and Joe Sapone

The quartet of Neal, Reinheimer, Paschall and Sapone placed second with a time of 9:34.74.

Day two of the ACC Championships will begin tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

12:15 p.m. - Men's Heptathlon Pole Vault - Sam Corley, Bryce Kazmaier, Max Stakun-Pickering, Issac Young

3:15 p.m. - Men's Mile (Prelims) - Ethan Strand, Parker Wolfe, Aiden Neal, Joe Sapone

3:45 p.m. - Women's Women's Mile (Prelims) - Taryn Parks

4:00 p.m. - Men's Heptathlon 1000m - Sam Corley, Bryce Kazmaier, Max Stakun-Pickering, Issac Young

4:35 p.m. - Men's 60mH (Prelims)- Blaise Atkinson,

5:10 p.m. - Women's 60mH (Prelims)- Aaliyah Berry, Kalani Witherspoon

5:35 p.m. - Men's 400m (Prelims) - Craig Saddler II

5:55 p.m. - Women's 400m (Prelims) -Delea Martins

7:15 p.m. - Men's 800m (Prelims)- Andrew Regnier, Michael Spragley, Andrew Regnier

7:30 p.m. - Women's 800m (Prelims)- Ella Auderset, Alyssa Hernandez, Mckayla Paige
