Gymnastics Makes Its Way To Clemson For Final ACC Regular Season Meet

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Fresh off its best performance of the season last weekend, the University of North Carolina gymnastics team travels to Clemson, South Carolina, to take on the Tigers for a 7:30 p.m. ET meet on Friday at Littlejohn Coliseum.
The meet – the final regular season ACC competition of the year – will air on ACCNX with Jon Goss and Toi Garcia on call.

Ten Things to Know
- 2024 marks UNC's first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The ACC previously sponsored a conference championship for gymnastics in 1984.
- This will be the first meeting between Carolina and Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Tigers became the fourth ACC school to add a women's gymnastics program.
- Isabelle Schaefer's 9.925 on bars – done three times this season – as well as Lali Dekanoidze's 9.925 on vault are the second-highest scores on their respective events in the ACC.
- Four other routines own the third-best scores recorded in the conference so far: Dekanoidze's 9.9 on bars, Gwen Fink's 9.9 on bars, Julia Knower's 9.9 on vault and Taylor Schulze's 9.9 on beam.
- Dekanoidze's and Gwen Fink's 9.9 on bars, Taylor Schulze's 9.9 on beam.
- Carolina put together its best performance in their last outing on Feb. 16 against Pitt. The total team score of 196.65 was the eighth best score in school history, blowing past its previous season-high 195.325.
- UNC also saw season-high team scores of 49.3 on bars, 49.225 on floor and 49.025 on beam en route to its first ACC victory in program history.
- The Tar Heels won all four events and the all-around against the Panthers. They had five routines of 9.9+, including three on bars.
- The Tar Heels have eight team rotations of 49.0+ so far this year. Their meet against Pitt last week was the first time all year where every rotation was above 49.
- In their last meet vs. Clemson on Jan. 26 in Chapel Hill, UNC had five podium finishes and Schaefer won bars (9.925).
