Senior Day Battle Vs. Duke Set For Sold-Out Carmichael

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC women's basketball team will play its final home game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon, hosting archrival Duke at a sold-out Carmichael Arena for Senior Day. Tipoff is 4 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN.

The Tar Heels are celebrating Senior Day and will honor fourth-year players Deja Kelly, Anya Poole, Alyssa Ustby and Alexandra Zelaya following the game.

Battle of the Blues
UNC and Duke are meeting for the 108th time in a series that dates back to the 1975-76 season, Carolina's second year of varsity competition under the umbrella of the Department of Athletics. UNC leads the series 54-53, but Duke has won the past two, in the 2023 ACC Tournament and then the first meeting of this season, in overtime on Feb. 11 in Durham.

Prior to those two, UNC had won four in a row following a string of five in a row and 12 of 13 by Duke.

• The Tar Heels won the last matchup in Chapel Hill, 61-56 on Jan. 19, 2023. The win over then-No. 13 Duke was the first ACC loss of the season for the Blue Devils and gave the Tar Heels their fifth win of the season over a ranked team. It came on the heels of a win over No. 11 NC State and marked the first time in program history that Carolina had beaten its Triangle rivals in back-to-back games when both opponents were ranked.

• Duke won this season's first game, 68-60 in overtime in Durham on Feb. 11.

Stats Notes
• Deja Kelly ranks second in the nation in free throw attempts with 211. She's taken double-digit free throws 11 times this season and seven times in the past 12 games.
• Maria Gakdeng is shooting .622 from the field, a percentage that would comfortably lead the ACC if she had the required five makes per game to be ranked. (She has 3.86 per game.)
Gakdeng's career FG percentage of 59.2 ranks 14th among all active DI players.

Milestone Watch
• Against BC, Deja Kelly became the 11th player in program history to score 1,800 points as a Tar Heel. She enters the Duke game with 1,805 career points, tied for 10th on UNC's career scoring list.
• Lexi Donarski passed the 1,500-career-points mark against Pitt. She has scored 313 of her current 1,564 points in a Carolina uniform.
• After Anya Poole played in her 100th career game on Jan. 14 vs. Virginia, the Tar Heels have four players on the roster with 100 or more career games. (Deja Kelly, Lexi Donarski, Alyssa Ustby and Poole.)
• Alyssa Ustby has 106 assists this season, already 32 more than she's had in any previous season as a Tar Heel. She also has a career-best 39 blocks (9 more than her next-best season) and is six away from a career-best season in steals.
