Track & Field Shine On Final Day Of Duke Invitational With Multiple Top Finishers

DURHAM, N.C.—The University of North Carolina's track and field teams wrapped up the Duke Invitational on Saturday, taking four second-place finishes in another strong day by both the men's and women's teams.
The final day of the Duke Invitational started with a pair of second-place finishes. Spencer Young secured second place in the women's javelin throw with a personal record of 46.01m, while Spencer Williams nearly surpassed his previous throws in every shot put attempt, finally landing at 17.50m to clinch second place.
With Young's performance, she joins the all-time list for the javelin, making her debut at ninth place.Â
Other highlights from Saturday include Blaise Atkinson setting a personal record in the 110m hurdles, moving him up one spot to seventh on the all-time list.Â
The Tar Heels women's 4x400 relay team also achieved an all-time top-ten performance, finishing the race second but ranking 10th in UNC history with a time of 3:36.06.
Both the men's and women's 4x400 relay A teams secured second-place finishes.
In the men's pole vault, Paul Signorelli achieved a new personal record of 5.15m and is now tied for 8th on the all-time list.
The Tar Heels will return to action next weekend, competing at both the Wake Forest Invitational and the Georgia Tech Invitational, with events scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
