Men's Golf Leads By 10 At Augusta Haskins Invitational

Dylan Menante is 5 under par through 36 holes and Peter Fountain shot UNC's low round of the day with a second-round 67 to lead the Tar Heels to a 10-stroke advantage after day one of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational Saturday at the Forest Hills Golf Club.
Menante shot rounds of 68-71 for 139 total and is tied for second on the individual leader board, three shots behind Illinois' Jackson Buchanan.
Fountain (74-67) is tied for seventh with UNC's David Ford (71-70) at 3-under 141. Austin Greaser (72-71) is 1 under and Maxwell Ford (70-76) is 2 over.
The top-ranked Tar Heels are 16 under par after rounds of 7-under 281 and 9-under 279. Texas and Augusta are tied for second at 6 under par, Oklahoma State is 3 under and Illinois is -2.
Menante was 1 over par after his first three holes in the opening round then played the final 15 holes bogey-free with five birdies for a 4-under 68.
Fountain was 2 over in the morning round and played the afternoon error free with five birdies for a 67. It was Fountain's first round of the season without a bogey and his 13th career round at 67 or better.
The third and final round is Sunday.
The Tar Heels have won five tournaments this season – the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational, the Williams Cup, East Lake Cup, Amer Ari Invitational and John Hayt Collegiate Invitational.
