CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Incoming North Carolina women's lacrosse freshman Kate Levy has been named the 2024 USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Player of the Year, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon. USA Lacrosse staff and writers select national players of the year with input from coaches in their respective regions of coverage.
This marks back-to-back years a Tar Heel has been tabbed National Player of the Year, with Levy joining Chloe Humphrey who earned the honor in 2023.
Levy, a two-time All-America, was selected as the USA Lacrosse Mid-Atlantic Girls' Player of the Year last week. She was also chosen as the 2024 Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Player of the Year.
A two-way midfielder from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Levy spent her junior and senior year at McDonogh School in Maryland. She led the Eagles with 48 goals, 17 assists, 128 draws and 22 caused turnovers in 2024. Her 48 goals came on 76 shots – a 63-percent shooting percentage. She recorded 55 more draw controls than she did as a junior, solidifying herself as a force everywhere on the field.
Named team captain as a senior, Levy guided McDonogh to a 17-2 record and an IAAM Championship runner-up finish this past season. The Eagles were the only IAAM team to go unbeaten in the regular season. In 2023, Levy helped her team win the IAAM title.
Levy, who earned a spot on the United States U-20 National Team training team, is in contention for a spot to represent the U.S. at the 2024 World Lacrosse U-20 Championship in Hong Kong.
Also a standout soccer player, Levy had two goals and two assists in McDonogh's IAAM soccer championship win and was named the Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Soccer Player of the Year.
Levy is the daughter of UNC women's lacrosse head coach Jenny Levy. Her two older brothers, Ryan and Alec, are members of the Carolina men's lacrosse team and their father, Dan, led the Tar Heels to the NCAA championship title in 1991.
