June 4, 2024 | Track & Field
Five University of North Carolina track and field competitors will participate in the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, running from Wednesday, June 5 through Saturday, June 8 in Eugene, Oregon at historic Hayward Field.
The Tar Heels' five competitors are:
Ethan Strand (Men's 1,500m)
Craig Saddler II (Men's 400m hurdles)
Parker Wolfe (Men's 5,000m)
Alex Phillip (Men's 10,000m)
Makayla Paige (Women's 800m)
Wolfe is coming off two second-place finishes at the 2024 Indoor Championships in the 3000m and the 5,000m looking to capture his 8th All-America finish in three years and first national championship.Â
Paige is making her first championship debut after battling injuries last outdoor season and has had a breakout year breaking the school's 800m record and silver at the ACC Championships.Â
Phillip is making his first Division 1 outdoor championship appearance. However, he was a seven-time Division III Champion at John Carroll University before his transfer to UNC. Currently, he holds the national lead in the 10000m this season with a time of 27:51.26 that he recorded in his victory at the Bryan Clay Invitational in April.
