January 3, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women's lacrosse program has announced its four team captains ahead of the upcoming 2025 season. The Tar Heels will be led by Reilly Casey, Stella Harrison, Kiley Mottice and Brooklyn Walker-Welch.
Walker-Welch also served as a team captain in 2024.
Returning to Chapel Hill for her fifth year is Casey, an attacker who saw action in all 17 games a season ago and finished the 2024 campaign with 13 goals, 15 assists and 28 points. She was tabbed a UNC Athletic Director Scholar-Athlete and landed on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for her efforts in the classroom.
Harrison, a redshirt-senior goalie, played in nine games last year and capped off the season with a .389 save percentage and a 12.55 goals-against average. She had a career-high 13 saves against Louisville and earned her first career start at Boston College.
Mottice is coming off a breakout sophomore season, as the attacker ended the year with a team-high 33 goals to complement her seven assists, 40 points and 20 ground balls. The now-junior recorded five hat tricks and 10 multi-point games in 2024, notching a career-high five goals against Louisville and six points at Pitt.
A redshirt-junior, Walker-Welch makes her return after missing the 2024 season due to injury. She garnered ILWomen First Team All-America, All-South Region First Team and All-ACC First Team accolades as a sophomore in 2023 after anchoring UNC's defense which limited opponents to an ACC-leading 8.4 goals per game in addition to recording 29 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers.
The Tar Heels officially open the 2025 season at home against James Madison on Friday, Feb. 7, at Dorrance Field. The complete schedule can be found here.
