
Joyce & Masciarelli Earn All-America Honors; Paige Qualifies For 800m Finals

EUGENE, ORE. - North Carolina track and field wrapped up day two of the 2025 Outdoor Track and Field National Championships with a runner qualifying for finals and a thrower earning All-America honors.
Senior Kate Joyce (56.03m) closed out her college javelin career with Second-Team All-America honors. Joyce launched a personal best throw in the first flight of the competition and entered the finals in ninth place, where she stayed in position for the rest of the flight.Â
Makayla Paige (1:59.92) punched her ticket for the 800m finals by winning her heat and finishing 3rd overall in the semifinals. Paige ran a sub-2:00 800m time for the second race in a row as she continues her phenomenal senior campaign, having won the indoor 800m national title. Paige faces an 800m championship field that has seven of the eight top fastest runners in the country.
Sydney Masciarelli (9:52.08) wrapped up her incredible season with Second Team All-America honors in the women's 3,000m steeplechase as she finished fourteenth. Masciarelli started the season outside of the Carolina record book, and with each meet, she moved up the record book until she became the program record holder in the event.
Taryn Parks (4:15.19) made her Outdoor Track and Field National Championships debut in the women's 1,500m, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors when she finished 21st.
