Gymnastics To Host Stanford In Home Opener

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 11 University of North Carolina gymnastics is set to compete in Carmichael for the first time this season as they host no. 13 Stanford Sunday evening. The top-15 matchup between the Tar Heels and Cardinals will begin at 4 p.m.
UNC is looking to build off the momentum from week one of the 2026 season as they begin ACC competition. Previously, the Tar Heels set a program record for a season-opening score on the road, shattering their previous team record by 1.5 points. Carolina came in second at the meet with a team score of 196.675.
The Tar Heels return to Carmichael for the first time since last season where they boasted a 6-1 record. Their home wins accounted for six of the seven UNC victories last season.
Carolina competed against Stanford last season in California where the Cardinals came out on top 197.250-195.775. Both teams competed at the ACC Championships where the Tar Heels came in third (197.225) and the Cardinals claimed the ACC title (197.775).
