No. 8 Men's Lacrosse Hosts High Point, Iona In Weekend Doubleheader

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 8 North Carolina men's lacrosse team continues its four-game homestand to open the 2026 season, hosting High Point (Friday) and Iona (Sunday) this weekend at Dorrance Field.

Last Time Out - Jacksonville
• Mason Szewczyk's go-ahead goal with just over two minutes remaining propelled the eighth-ranked Tar Heels over Jacksonville, 11-10, last weekend.
• Szewczyk led all players with four points, courtesy of two goals and two assists.
• Brevin Wilson posted a hat trick in the game, a team-best for the Tar Heels.
• Brady Wambach recorded 12 faceoff wins in the victory.
• Freshman goalkeeper Josh Marcus recorded eight saves in his collegiate debut.
Season-Opener Success
• After last Saturday, Carolina is 49-20 all-time in season openers, including an active 28-game season opener win streak, dating back to 1999.
• The streak is the second longest in the country, behind Maryland's 34-game win streak.
Series History
• Entering Friday, the Tar Heels hold an 8-1 advantage in the series history with High Point, following last season's 14-2 victory on the road.
• Sunday is the first meeting between Carolina and Iona. The 2026 campaign is the second season in program history for the Gaels.
