The UNC field hockey team will play its first night game of the season this Wednesday against visiting Radford University. The matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Francis Henry Stadium.
UNC (9-2 overall, 2-1 ACC) has won all 12 of its previous meetings with Radford (2-10). The teams faced off twice last season, with Carolina winning 5-1 in the championship game of the Temple Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa., and 6-0 in Chapel Hill.
The Tar Heels fell from second to fifth in this week's STX/NFHCA National Coaches Poll, following last Saturday's 2-0 loss at Wake Forest. Connecticut held on to the No. 1 spot, followed by Maryland (11-1), Iowa (10-0) and Penn State (10-2).
All five Atlantic Coast Conference teams remain ranked in the poll. After Maryland and North Carolina, Wake Forest is No. 7, Virginia is No. 8 and Duke is No. 12. Radford is unranked.
