Tar Heels Tie Duke for Second at ACC Tourney

BADIN LAKE, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's golf team tied for second with Duke at the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. Georgia Tech won the event with a one-under par 863, and the Tar Heels totaled 10 more than the Yellow Jackets for a nine-over par 873. Clemson and North Carolina State rounded up the top five with scores of 876 and 884, respectively.
Matt Krauss of Duke captured the individual title firing a four-under 212 total. Georgia Tech's Mike Pearson and Wes Latimer placed second and third in the competition with scores of 213 and 215.
Paul Daniel led the Tar Heels with a one-over 217 and tied for seventh. Max Harris carded a disappointing 78 in Sunday's round to finish 12th with a four-over 220. Rob Simmons also tied for 12th. Don Hill and Brad Hyler both finished 18th for Carolina, scoring 222's.
The 54-hole event was played at the Old North State Club in Badin Lake, N.C. The course features a par 72, 7,102-yard layout.
