Norfolk, Va.--North Carolina (13-7) topped Northeastern (14-8), 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at Foreman Field on the campus of Old Dominion University in first round NCAA field hockey action. The Tar Heels held a 1-0 lead going into halftime, then exploded for four goals in the second half. Jana Toepel had two goals and an assist, and Abby Martin had a goal and two assists. The Heels next face #1 Old Dominion in the second round of the tournament.
