Tar Heels Move To 2nd In Field Hockey Poll

The UNC field hockey team moved up a spot to second in this week's STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The 8-1 Tar Heels received one first-place vote.
Holding the top spot for the second week is Connecticut (8-0). Maryland (9-1) moved up a spot to third and Iowa (8-0) jumped from No. 10 to No. 4. Penn State rounds out the top five at 7-2.
All five Atlantic Coast Conference teams are listed in the top 12 spots of the poll. Besides North Carolina and Maryland, Virginia is No. 8, Wake Forest is No. 11 and Duke is No. 12.
North Carolina will travel to face both Wake Forest and Duke this weekend. On Saturday in Winston-Salem, the Tar Heels take on the Demon Deacons (8-1) at 1 p.m. in an ACC matchup. On Sunday, UNC travels to Durham to play Duke (7-3) at 1 p.m. in the teams' second meeting of the season. This game will not count in the conference standings.
