UNC goalkeeper Amy Tran has been chosen to share Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week field hockey honors after leading the Tar Heels to a 1-0 overtime win at Maryland on Sunday. The shutout was Carolina's third in a row and the second this season against an ACC team. The win gave the Tar Heels the regular-season conference championship with a 4-0 record.
Tran, a sophomore from Grantville, Pa., leads the conference with a 0.93 goals against average and has six shutouts this season. She splits the weekly honor with Wake Forest forward Jenny Everett, who scored two goals and an assist against Virginia on Sunday.
Second-ranked UNC (16-1) returns to action on Saturday, facing top-ranked Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va.
