Kristen McCann Earns ACC Honors

North Carolina's Kristen McCann, a senior forward, has earned Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week honors for the second week of the 2000 season. McCann scored five goals over the weekend to lead the Tar Heels to their eighth consecutive Temple Invitational title in Philadelphia, Pa.
A native of Macungie, Pa., McCann scored one goal and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 9. She scored four goals in the Tar Heels' 6-1 win over Temple on Sunday, Sept. 10.
McCann leads North Carolina in scoring with seven goals and one assist for 15 points. She is a member of the U.S. National team and was a third-team All-America selection in 1999.
The Tar Heels are back in action on Saturday when they host Old Dominion at 1 p.m. The game has been dubbed "Fan Appreciation Day" and will feature giveaways from local businesses. The first 300 fans to arrive at Francis E. Henry Stadium will receive free hot dog and sodas, and the first 150 student will receive t-shirts.
