The UNC field hockey team will host third-ranked Wake Forest Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Francis E. Henry Stadium. The game is the first Atlantic Coast Conference contest of the season for North Carolina, which is 8-1 and ranked fifth in the nation. Wake is 9-0, 1-0 in the ACC.
Carolina leads the series against Wake 23-4-4, but the Demon Deacons won all three of last year's matchups.
The first 300 fans to arrive at Saturday's game will receive a ticket good for a post-game barbeque lunch, courtesy of the Ramshead Rathskellar. There is no charge for admission to the game.
On Sunday, the Tar Heels travel to Durham to face Duke in another ACC matchup. The Blue Devils are 5-5 and ranked No. 17 in the nation heading into their game Saturday against Richmond.
UNC won the season's first meeting, 3-0 on Aug. 26, to take an early lead in the Carlyle Cup points standings. The Cup will be won by UNC or Duke at the end of the school year, based on results of head-to-head competition.
