Tallahassee, Fla. - North Carolina's men's golf team is in second place after a one day two round total of 573. The Tar Heels combined for a 9 over par 585 overall one day total shooting 289 in the first round followed by a 296 in the second. Tar Heel Senior Rob Simmons is in second place overall after firing scores of 71-71. Tar Heel Freshman Dustin Bray is in a three-way tie for third having finished the day with a 70 and 73. The University of Virginia leads the two-day three round event at the 72, 6869-yard Golden Eagle course with a total two round score of 573. The Cavaliers are paced by overall leader Steve Marino who finished the day at six-under-par with rounds of 70 and 68. Marino's teammate, Cavalier Rusty Kennedy, is tied for third coming in with a 143. College of Charleston finished the day in fourth , fourteen strokes off the lead at 587 followed by the University of Alabama-Birmingham at 588. Duke University is in fifth place 22 strokes off the lead at 595.
UNC Sophomore Ramon Bescansa is tied for 24th at five-over-par with a total of 149. Teammate Bob Cherry is tied for 32nd at seven-under-par while UNC Senior Johno Harris is in 79th position with a two round total of 160. The final round of the Seminole Intercollegiate will be played on Wednesday, March 14.
