Keeran Earns ACC Field Hockey Honor

UNC freshman Kelsey Keeran has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week for field hockey after totaling five points in UNC's win over Temple Sunday. Keeran scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist as Carolina beat the host Owls 4-1 to claim the Temple Invitiational title for the ninth consecutive year. She also started at forward in Saturday's game, when top-ranked UNC beat No. 3 Michigan 2-1.
Keeran, who is from Sunbury, Ohio, has five goals this season, the second-highest total on the team. The Tar Heels' leader in scoring and goals is senior midfielder Abby Martin, who claimed the ACC honor last week. Martin scored her sixth goal of the season against Michigan and also has three assists for a total of 15 points.
Keeran shares this week's ACC honor with Maryland senior Dina Rizzo, who scored three goals in two Terrapin wins last weekend.
North Carolina (5-0) returns to action on Saturday, hosting Old Dominion at 11 a.m. On Sunday, the Tar Heels will host Virginia at 1 p.m.
