Three UNC Players Earn All-South Region Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Three North Carolina field hockey players have earned spots on the NFHCA Division I South Region team, announced Monday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Senior Meredith Keller and sophomore Laura Douglas were named to the first team and senior Stephanie Fuller made the second team.
The all-region nod is the fourth of Keller's career. A midfielder from Greenville, Del., she was selected for the second team in each of her first three years at UNC. Keller ranked third on this year's team with 17 points and finished her career with 46 (15 goals, 16 assists). She started all 87 games during her four seasons on the UNC squad.
Douglas, a midfielder from Whangarei, New Zealand, finished the 2002 season with 21 points and tied for the team lead with seven assists. She started all 20 games.
Fuller, a back from North Potomac, Md., started all 20 games and scored five goals. She ranked fourth on this year's team in scoring with 12 points and finished her career with a total of 18 (seven goals, four assists).
All three players earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors for 2002 and Keller was named All-ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels finished the season with a 9-11 record and a No. 13 national ranking.
