Tar Heels Add Greg Paradine To Men's Lacrosse Staff

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Greg Paradine, a former All-America defenseman at the University of North Carolina, has joined the Tar Heel men's lacrosse coaching staff, as announced by UNC head coach John Haus. This will be Paradine's second tour of duty as an assistant coach with Carolina.
Paradine will concentrate on working with the UNC defense as well as handling other administrative duties in the lacrosse office. Paradine graduated from UNC in December of 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography. He was a four-year varsity scholarship athlete in men's lacrosse for the Tar Heels from 1989-93. He played on four Atlantic Coast Conference championships teams at Carolina as well as teams which appeared in four NCAA Tournaments, winning the NCAA championship in 1991 and finishing as runnerup in 1993.
Paradine was an honorable mention All-America selection as a junior in 1992 and a first-team All-America selection as a senior in 1993. He was also chosen first-team All-ACC in 1992 and 1993. He was named to the All-ACC Tournament team in 1993 as well.
Most recently Paradine served as the head lacrosse coach at Chapel Hill High School from December of 1998 to the spring of 2002. He led the Tigers to PAC Six conference titles in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and was named the PAC Six coach of the year in 2001. The Tigers were the North Carolina High School Lacrosse Association runnersup in both '01 and '02. He coached three high school All-Americas at CHHS, including present Tar Heel Joe Hubbard.
Paradine received his teacher certification from the North Carolina Central University School of Education in December 1998. The past three years he has been employed as a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Mary Scroggs Elementary in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro city school system.
He was an assistant coach at Carolina previously for two years from August 1995 to May 1997. He also coached as an assistant at The Ohio State University from January 1994 to May 1995.
