Douglas, Keeran Named All-ACC

North Carolina juniors Laura Douglas and Kelsey Keeran were named to the 2003 All-ACC Field Hockey Team, announced at Thursday evening's tournament banquet. The ACC Championship is underway this weekend in Charlottesville, Va., and the Tar Heels open play today at 4 p.m. against Duke.
Douglas was named to the squad for the second year in a row, and Keeran made the team for the first time in her career.
Wake Forest, the regular-season ACC champion, led all teams with six honorees on the team. The Duke Blue Devils and Maryland Terrapins each had three players selected, and Virginia had one.
Wake Forest's senior midfielder, Kelly Doton was selected as the ACC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. It is the third time in conference history a Demon Deacon has garnered this honor. Doton accumulated 36 points on 10 goals and 16 assists in 2003. The Greenfield, Mass., native averaged 4.00 shots per game, 2.12 points per game and 0.94 assists per game on the season.
Demon Deacon head coach Jennifer Averill earned her third ACC Coach of the Year honor and second in as many years.
