Carolina Golfers In 13th Place At NCAA Championships

STILLWATER, OKLA. - North Carolina's men's golf team fired a 308 for the second consecutive day for a 616 total and is tied for 13th place after the second round of the NCAA Championship. Karsten Creek once again presented a tough challenge as UCLA was the only team to shoot under 300 as the Bruins fired a seven-over-par 295 for a 598 total to grab the lead after two rounds. Oklahoma State is one shot back at 599 while top-ranked Clemson is third at 601 and Auburn and Florida are tied for fourth place with 602 totals.
Lee Williams of Auburn fired an even par 72 for a three-under 141 total to maintain the individual lead. Oklahoma State's Hunter Mahan is three strokes back in second place after firing a one-under 71 on the second day for an even par 144 total. Jason Moon of NC State is in third place with a 145 total after rounds of 72-73.
Junior Richard Treis, this year's ACC Champion, was the low Tar Heel with a two-over 74 in the second round for a 149 total and is tied for 15th place. Kevin Silva carded a 75 for a 154 total and is tied for 45th place. Jeremy Elliott has a 160 total and is tied for 107th place while Dustin Bray and Ramon Bescansa both have 161 totals and are tied for 111th place.
The 72-hole event continues through Friday and is being played at Karsten Creek which features a par 72, 7,095-yard layout.
