Tar Heel Golfers Bray and Treis Selected All-Americas

Chapel Hill, N.C. - University of North Carolina golfers, Dustin Bray, a junior from Asheboro, N.C., and Richard Treis, a junior from Baden-Baden, Germany, were named to the 2003 Ping All-America Team as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Bray was selected to the first team while Treis received honorable mention honors. Treis was also selected a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar. In addition, Bray, Treis and senior Ramon Bescansa, from Santiago, Spain, were named to the 2003 Ping All-South Region Team.
ray has captured three tournament championships this year, four in his career. Bray boasts the lowest scoring average on the team of 71.56 and has posted 10 top-20 finishes in Carolina's 12 events this year. In NCAA competition this year, he tied for 14th place at the NCAA Central Regional and tied for 49th at the NCAA Championship. A semifinalist at the 2002 U.S. Amateur, Bray was named to the 2002 Ping All-America second team and is a three-time All-ACC selection, 2001, 2002 and 2003. He has been chosen to represent the United States on this summer's Palmer Cup team. Bray is ranked 14th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Rankings and tied for sixth place at last fall's Western Refining Golf Classic where he was one of 24 collegiate golfers selected to participate.
Treis, this year's ACC Champion, broke into the starting lineup this spring and has posted four top-10 and five top-25 finishes in Carolina's nine spring events. In NCAA competition this year, he tied for 43rd at the NCAA Central Regional and was the low Tar Heel, tying for 22nd at the NCAA Championship. Treis was selected to this year's All-ACC team and is ranked 32nd in the Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Rankings.
escansa picked up the first victory of his collegiate career this spring, a win at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic. He posted six top-30 finishes this year. In NCAA competition this year, he tied for 85th at the NCAA Central Regional and tied for 59th at the NCAA Championship. Bescansa was selected to this year's All-ACC team and tied for sixth place at last fall's Western Refining Golf Classic where he was one of 24 collegiate golfers selected to participate.
