Junior forward Karen Mann has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week after scoring two goals in UNC's win at No. 7 Old Dominion on Saturday. The second-ranked Tar Heels finished the regular season 18-1 and will play as the top seed in this weekend's ACC Tournament.
UNC opens play in the conference tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. against the winner of Thursday's game between No. 4 seed Wake Forest and No. 5 seed Virginia. The tournament will be held at Wake Forest's Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. There is no charge for admission.
The ACC honor is the second of the season for Mann, who has 11 goals and two assists this year. She also won in the first week following the Tar Heels' season-opening wins over Michigan and Iowa. Mann shared the honor this week with Duke junior Katie Grant.
