Carolina's Men's Golfers Tied For Ninth Place At The Intercolleigate

Cary, N.C. - North Carolina's men's golf team is tied for ninth place with a 12-over-par 588 total after the second round of The Courtyard By Marriott Intercollegiate. The Tar Heels carded rounds of 292-296. Kansas leads the field of 15 teams with a blistering 14-under 562 total after firing rounds of 283-279. Duke is three strokes back in second place at 565 while Minnesota is third at 575, Wake Forest is fourth at 577 and NC State and SMU are tied for fifth place with 578 totals.
ill Haas of Wake Forest leads all individuals after firing an eight-under 64 and a three-under 69 for an 11-under 133 total. Georgia Southern's Aron Price and Kansas' Kevin Ward are three shots back in second place with 136 totals. Four players are tied for fourth place at 139 - Kansas' Tyler Hall, Virginia Tech's Ryan Stinnett and Duke's Nathan Smith and Alex Wilson.
Kevin Silva, a sophomore from New Bedford, Mass., led the way for the Tar Heels after firing two rounds of 71 for a 142 total and is tied for 12th place. Martin Ureta and Ted Smith are tied for 36th with 149 totals while Dustin Bray is tied for 55th at 151 and Matt Crenshaw is tied for 76th with a 156 total.
The final round will be played Saturday at MacGregor Downs Country Club which features a par 72, 6,867-yard layout. Tee times begin at 8:00 a.m. off the first and 10th tees. The Tar Heels begin teeing off the 10th tee at 9:20 a.m.
