Six Tar Heels Earn All-South Region Recognition

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina senior back Brooke Miller has been named to the 2006 Division I Field Hockey All-South Region Team, announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Five other Tar Heels earned second-team honors.
Miller, from Hummelstown, Pa., served as a captain this season, her fourth as a regular in the starting lineup. An All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, she finished the year with a career-high 23 points (eight goals and seven assists), second on the team. As a first-team honoree, Miller is in the running for All-America honors, which will be announced on Nov. 20. Miller earned second-team All-South Region honors as a junior.
Tar Heels named to the second team were Illse Davids, a freshman midfielder from Cape Town, South Africa; Riley Foster, a freshman back from Fort Worth, Texas; Jesse Gey, a junior midfielder from Green Lane, Pa.; Brianna O'Donnell, a freshman goalkeeper from Collegeville, Pa.; and Britt van Beek, a sophomore midfielder from Den Bosch, The Netherlands.
