Q and A by Athletic Communications Student Assistant Kathryn Roth
What made you decide that you wanted to play field hockey for UNC?
It was obvious after my official visit to UNC that Carolina had the best combination of academics and athletics in the country and therefore the decision was easy.
What did you do over the summer to prepare for this season?
I actually did an internship that required me to travel all over the country and it really made me appreciate what I am part of at Carolina and motivated me to train hard and prepare myself so I could help bring another championship to the University.
In the past four years what has been your most memorable moment (does not have to be from field hockey)?
No particular moment, just all the great friends I've made in the past four years. And obviously the 2007 ACC Championship game.
What are your plans after graduation?
Obtain a job in sports marketing and return to Chapel Hill as often as possible.
What have you personally done to keep the momentum of this team going?
Leading by example and pushing myself and my teammates everyday to improve.
Undefeated in the regular season, what is the team doing to prepare for the tournament?
The same thing we've been doing all season, focusing on the "now" and working to improve and fine tune our game.
Could you reflect on the last four seasons and what you think were the best moments and the worst?
The best moments have been seeing everything fall perfectly into place this season after four hard years of work. Even the worst moments have their place in the puzzle and they have all made me a better field hockey player and a better person.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Lancaster, PA
What is the best vacation you have ever been on?
Tie between a family vacation on a cruise to the Caribbean in 2004 and spring break 2006 to the Bahamas with the entire FH team.
