CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina (8-0) concludes a season-opening nine-game homestand when the Tar Heels welcome Purdue to Carmichael Auditorium Thursday at 7 p.m. for the inaugural Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Carolina is coming off a 102-58 win over the College of Charleston on Tuesday. Purdue enters Thursday's matchup 2-3 after dropping games to Duke, Temple and Old Dominion at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam Nov. 22-25. UNC is ranked No. 4 in both the AP poll and the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll. Purdue is unranked.

PURDUE SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 3-1 all-time against Purdue with all four meetings coming in the NCAA Tournament.
• All three UNC wins in the series have come in Final Four seasons. The Tar Heels defeated Purdue, 89-74, in the 1994 national semifinal in Richmond, Va., en route to the NCAA title. UNC earned a trip to the Elite Eight with a 70-68 win in Cleveland in 2006, and Carolina advanced to the 2007 Final Four with last year's 84-72 win in the Dallas Regional final.
• Purdue's one victory in the series came in the 1999 Midwest Regional semifinal, an 82-59 decision in Normal, Ill.
UNC AGAINST THE BIG TEN
• Carolina has played at least one game against each of the 11 current members of the Big Ten.
• UNC has an all-time record of 19-9 against Big Ten. Only Iowa (0-2) and Ohio State (2-3) have winning records against the Tar Heels.
• While this year's version is officially the inaugural Big Ten/ACC Challenge, Carolina has played two other games that were dubbed the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. On Jan. 8, 1993, UNC defeated Northwestern, 98-75, in Charlottesville, Va. On Dec. 19, 1999, the Tar Heels defeated Michigan State, 82-65, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
NOTING THE BOILERMAKERS
• Purdue is 2-3 on the season after a 66-53 loss to Old Dominion in the final game of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam on Nov. 25.
• The Boilermakers are led in scoring by Danielle Campbell, who is averaging 12.6 points per game, and Lakisa Freeman, who has added 11.8 points per contest.
• The Boilermakers are without leading scorer and rebounder Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.
• Purdue is coached by Sharon Versyp, who is in her second season in West Lafayette after stints at Indiana and Maine. Versyp was also a standout player for Purdue from 1984-88.
