Davids Earns ACC Weekly Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina's Illse Davids, a junior from Plumstead, South Africa, has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. The honor is the first for Davids, a midfielder for the fifth-ranked Tar Heels.
Davids played a role in five of the Tar Heels' seven goals over the weekend, as the team earned shutout wins over Penn State and West Chester at the Vonnie Gros Classic in West Chester, Pa. On Saturday against the No. 11 Nittany Lions, Davids assisted on the second goal of the day and scored the third as UNC won 4-0. Against host West Chester on Sunday, Davids assisted on the gamewinning goal, scored on a penalty stroke, then picked up another assist on the final goal in a 3-0 win.
For the season, she has six goals and three assists for 15 points, second on the team.
Davids and the Tar Heels (4-2) will play a pair of home games this weekend, hosting Old Dominion on Friday at 6 p.m. and Radford on Sunday at noon.
