GREENSBORO, N.C.. - North Carolina goalkeeper Jackie Kintzer has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Kintzer, a senior from Robesonia, Pa., anchored the Tar Heel defense last week as UNC gave up just one goal in two games against ranked opponents.
At Boston College on Friday, Carolina beat the 12th-ranked Eagles 3-0 for the squad's eighth shutout of the year. Kintzer saved both of B.C.'s shots on goal as the Tar Heels improved to 3-0 in ACC play.
Against No. 5 Connecticut on Sunday, in a game played at Boston College, Kintzer made seven saves as UNC won 3-1.
A first-team All-America selection as a junior and a preseason All-ACC pick this fall, Kintzer has allowed just six goals this season and has a goals-against average of 0.44.
The Tar Heels, now 13-0 overall, host a pair of games this weekend, with No. 3 Virginia visiting on Saturday and James Madison on Sunday.
