UNC Places Four On National Academic Squad

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Four North Carolina field hockey players have been named to the 2009 National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad, announced recently by the NFHCA. Casey Burns, Elizabeth Drazdowski, Meghan Lyons and Louise McNutt earned spots on the team, which requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the fall 2009 semester.
Burns, Drazdowski and McNutt were honored for the third time. Lyons, a freshman, was named to the squad for the first time.
urns, a senior from Chapel Hill, finished her playing career with the 2009 season. She is a political science and international studies double major and will graduate from UNC in May.
Drazdowski, who is a rising senior in eligibility, is a communication studies major from Mountain Top, Pa. She started every game during the 2009 NCAA Championship season and earned second-team All-South Region honors.
McNutt, a rising junior in eligibility, is a business administration major from Austin, Texas.
Lyons is a freshman from Wilmington, Del., who has yet to declare a major.
