Tar Heels Named To U.S. Squad

CHULA VISTA, CA - Six players with North Carolina field hockey ties have been named to the U.S. National Team roster for a five-game test series against Argentina later this month, USA Field Hockey has announced. The games are scheduled for May 13-19 at American University in Washington D.C.
Selected for the 18 player roster are current Tar Heels Jackie Kintzer and Kelsey Kolojejchick, incoming freshman Marta Malmberg and UNC graduates Rachel Dawson, Carrie Lingo and Amy Tran. Lingo serves as the team's captain.
The squad features nine members of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, including Dawson, Lingo and Tran.
Argentina was the Olympic bronze medalist in 2008 and now is ranked No. 2 in the world. The series is the first international field hockey competition on the East Coast since October of 2007, when the U.S. faced Japan at the University of Maryland.
