Kolojejchick Named ACC Player Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina junior midfielder Kelsey Kolojejchick has been named the ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Kolojejchick scored two goals and added an assist as the Tar Heels defeated No. 3 Maryland 2-1 and No. 7 Michigan 4-3 in double overtime over the weekend. The win over Maryland clinched the top seed in the ACC Tournament for North Carolina.
Against Maryland, Kolojejchick scored in the 50th minute - grabbing a rebound after her first attempt was saved and lofting a shot over the keeper - to put the Tar Heels up 2-0 in what was eventually a 2-1 win.
On Sunday against Michigan, the Larksville, Pa. native scored on a penalty corner in the 40th minute, deflecting in a shot to give North Carolina a 2-1 lead. After the Wolverines scored back-to-back goals to go up by one, Kolojejchick assisted on the goal that tied the game in the 66th minute to send the game into overtime.
"Kelsey's goals were big for us this weekend, but she has such an impact on the game even when she isn't scoring," UNC coach Karen Shelton said. "She's a constant scoring threat, which means the other team always has to keep an eye on her and it opens up opportunities for us elsewhere. She has had an outstanding season and was particularly important for us this weekend."
This is the second Player of the Week honor for Kolojejchick this year and third of her career.
