CHAPEL HILL --- Head coach Sylvia Hatchell and members of the North Carolina women's basketball team will help kick off the annual Christmas House Wish Tree on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill.
Team members will be signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans - this is a great chance to meet your favorite Tar Heels.
Christmas House is the Chapel Hill Service League's signature annual community project. For more than half a century, this event has helped to make the holidays brighter for financially disadvantaged families in the Chapel Hill area. With the generous support of the community, hundreds of new toys, books and coats are collected and beautifully displayed for a one-day shopping spree at a local church.
Parents and guardians of needy children are invited to select the perfect gifts for their families. Last year, more than 800 Chapel Hill children were served and Coach Hatchell has served as the Honorary Chair of Christmas House for many years.
Christmas House provides the entire community the opportunity to join together in a single project of sharing. The Wish Tree at Flyleaf Books will be decorated with bear ornaments representing the needy children of our community. By selecting a bear and purchasing a book for one of these children, you will help to provide a Christmas gift for a community family in need.
Flyleaf Books is located at 752 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (Historic Airport Rd), next to Fosters, Kitchen and Flying Burrito.
