Van Sickle Shares ACC Weekly Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina junior Caitlin Van Sickle has been honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference following her performance against top-ranked Old Dominion on Sunday. Van Sickle shares the final ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week honor of the 2011 season with Virginia's Jenny Johnstone.
Van Sickle scored the game-winning goal less than two minutes into overtime as second-ranked North Carolina won 3-2 at ODU. A back from Wilmington, Del., she got an assist from senior Katelyn Falgowski and scored on UNC's second penalty corner of the extra period. Van Sickle also assisted on the first goal of the game for UNC, a penalty corner tip-in by Jaclyn Gaudioso Radvany in the 45th minute of play.
Van Sickle now has five goals on the season, two of them game winners. She leads the team with nine assists and three defensive saves.
