Carolina senior Katelyn Falgowski missed seven UNC games in October, but she had an excellent excuse. The midfielder from Landenberg, Pa., was in Guadalajara, Mexico, helping the U.S. National Team to a gold medal at the Pan American Games. The 4-2 win over Argentina, the top ranked team in the world, was historic in that it marked the first time the U.S. had taken top honors at the competition. Even more significantly, it earned the U.S. a spot in the field for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In between catching up on her school work and preparing for postseason play with top-ranked UNC, Falgowski, a national team veteran who competed at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, sat down with TarHeelBlue.com to talk about her Pan Am Games experience.
