No. 13 Tar Heels Host Georgia Tech On Senior Night

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina plays its final ACC home contest of the season Thursday when the Tar Heels host Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Arena. Carolina is 22-5 on the year (8-4 in the ACC) after an 88-72 loss to NC State on Monday. Georgia Tech is 20-8 (8-4 ACC) following a 72-46 win over Clemson on Feb. 17. UNC is ranked No. 13 in the AP poll and No. 16 in the coaches' poll. Georgia Tech is unranked.

GEORGIA TECH SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 51-14 all-time against Georgia Tech, including a 23-5 mark in Chapel Hill.
• Carolina has won 14 of the last 17 in the series, but the Tar Heels have dropped three of the last five. The home team has won every game in the series dating back to the 2008-09 season.
• UNC has more wins over Georgia Tech than any other ACC opponent except for Wake Forest (57-12).
NOTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
• Georgia Tech is 20-8 (8-4 in the ACC) following a 72-46 win over Clemson on Feb. 17.
• Senior Alex Montgomery leads the team in both scoring and rebounding with 13.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Freshman Ty Marshall is second on the squad in scoring with 13.6 points per contest.

• Carolina is 393-88 all-time in Carmichael, with an 20-5 record since the building re-opened after being closed for renovations from March 2008 to December 2009.
• The Tar Heels have won at least 14 home games in each of the last 10 seasons, including a school-record 18 during an undefeated 2007-08 home campaign.
• With an all-time home winning percentage of .816 (436-98, including a 43-10 record in the Dean E. Smith Center), Chapel Hill ranks as the ninth most difficult location for visiting teams all-time in Division I women's basketball.
BROOMFIELD EARNS ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS
Junior Laura Broomfield has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District second team, as announced Feb. 3 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The honor recognizes student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. Broomfield is working toward a double major in political science and communication studies. She has earned Dean's List and Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition and represents her team as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
