GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina junior midfielder Kelsey Kolojejchick has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for her two-goal performance in a win over No. 5 Syracuse last Friday
After Carolina trailed 2-0 at halftime, redshirt freshman Abby Frey got the Tar Heels on the board in the 50th minute. Kolojejchick tied the score with her goal in the 61st minute then struck again less than two minutes later to put UNC up for good. At the 62:48 mark, the native of Larksville, Pa. dove to push in a rebound to give the Tar Heels a lead that they would hold onto for the win.
Kolojejchick leads Carolina in scoring this season with four goals, two of them game winners.
With the win, the top-ranked Tar Heels improved their record to 3-0 and a perfect 2-0 against ranked teams. North Carolina will return to action this weekend with a pair of games in Newark, Del., where the Tar Heels face host Delaware Friday at 4 p.m and Lafayette on Sunday at noon.
