Jones Goes To Boston In WPS Second Round

KANSAS CITY, MO. - Courtney Jones of the University of North Carolina women's soccer team was the sole Tar Heel performer taken in the 2012 Women's Professional Soccer Draft. The veteran forward, who was a four-year starter and member of UNC's 30-30 club, was taken in the second round by the Boston Breakers.
Jones, a native of Danville, Calif., was a co-captain of the 2011 UNC women's soccer team. She started four straight years at the forward position and helped lead Carolina to two NCAA championships, two ACC regular-season championships and two ACC Tournament championships.
Jones had one of the most distinguished careers in UNC history, being one of only 19 players to score at least 30 goals and record at least 30 assists in her career.
Jones was the 11th player taken int he 2012 WPS draft. She was taken in the second round by Boston. She will become the 16th current Tar Heel in the WPS.
North Carolina led all WPS teams in 2011 with 15 roster spots taken by former Tar Heels.
