Fresno State Head Coach Adrian Wiggins
Opening Statement:
“First of all, I just want to thank North Carolina for having us here and the committee, they've done a great job of really putting together a first-class job for the tournament. We have gone to a few now, and they have all been great. I can honestly tell you that they have been beyond hospitable here and it's been a truly wonderful experience for our players and hopefully we can put forward our best foot for them and have a good tournament.
“Right now, we are just trying to get focused a little bit on some things defensively that we want to sure up and make sure that we are fundamentally sound on. Offensively, we have been working a lot all week on Georgetown and their trap and trying to match their length and their athleticism. They do a very good job at what they do, so we will need to take care of the basketball, share it, and be real confident with it. Beyond that, I think you need to continue to attack Georgetown and not sit back and allow them to pressure you. That will be fun, because we like to put a lot of pressure opposing teams as well so I am excited about that challenge within the game.
On their location and seed in the bracket:
“We are real comfortable with the seed we got. We like the matchup. Georgetown is a good team, but we have played some good teams in the last several years and in our non-conference this year. So we were happy about that, but just to see a new part of the country, play in a new place, and have another chance to experience the tournament.”
On Georgetown's tempo:
“We work hard to be in good shape. To test that, this time of year is fun for me. I think it's important to understand that a mistake is ok. You can't beat yourself up over it or be too hard on yourself. Both teams are trying to create mistakes and there's going to be some mistakes made. We spend a lot of time trying to become the team that doesn't make mistakes. So it will be fun to see tomorrow how we handle that.”
Junior Guard Rosie Moult on her third tournament experience:
“In a sense it gets more comfortable, and you gain more experience each year, so I know what to expect. But it is still fresh and still exciting each year coming here.”
